Zeitkunst
International Contemporary Music and Literature Festival
____
2012/2013
The International Festival of Contemporary Music and Literature Zeitkunst was held in Brazil in 2012 and 2013. In 2012, homage was paid to the composer and philosopher John Cage, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. In 2013, four concerts were performed with works from 20th century composers, in addition to three world premieres. The festival encourages dialogue with contemporary literature, providing a conversation between German and Brazilian composers and poets. The concept of this idea is not limited in combining music and reading. It has a multifunctional, interconnected, performatic, multilingual character open for other forms of artistic expression. Composers and writers work closely together, creating new musical and literary productions before performances. In this way, a totally innovative and challenging concept emerges.
The festival’s program encompasses 25 Brazilian and international artists, composers and writers.
